PD successfully completed the Progression into Employment Programme at Project Colt, where she demonstrated strong determination and a clear drive to build a better future for herself. A bright and capable individual, PD faced significant personal challenges growing up, having spent much of her youth caring for her mother, who struggled with addiction and repeated relapses. These experiences deeply impacted her mental health, but they also shaped her into a compassionate and resilient young woman.

Following the programme, PD secured employment at Leeds University, where she now works auditing documents and records in line with Ofsted regulations. Her attention to detail, work ethic, and professionalism have made her a valuable member of the team.

PD’s lived experience as a former young carer gives her a unique perspective and empathy that she is now eager to use to support others facing similar challenges. She stands as a powerful example of how, with the right support and opportunity, adversity can be transformed into strength and purpose.
