SM joined the Progression into Employment Programme at Project Colt in 2024, determined to improve her prospects and build a better future. Within just seven weeks, she successfully secured employment in the hospitality industry, a result of her hard work, dedication, and the practical support she received during the programme. This included creating a professional CV, completing the Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification, and developing the confidence needed to pursue job opportunities.

In addition to her new role, SM continues to volunteer one day a week at Rusty’s Coffee Club, where she supports individuals with additional needs. Her natural warmth and nurturing personality have earned her the affectionate nickname “Mother Hen” among the team. She thrives in this supportive role, creating a welcoming environment and helping others gain the same confidence she once needed.

For SM, the journey was about more than just finding a job, it was about finding purpose and empowerment through community and connection.
