CM first accessed Project Colt’s recovery services in 2023, seeking support to overcome substance misuse and rebuild his life. After achieving abstinence, he began taking proactive steps toward his personal and professional development. With determination and support, CM successfully completed both a Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification and a 4-week Barista Training Course through Project Colt.

Equipped with new skills and a renewed sense of purpose, CM began volunteering at Rusty’s Coffee Club. Working two to three days a week, this structured routine has become a valuable part of his recovery journey. The role not only helps him stay focused and engaged but has also played a key part in rebuilding his self-esteem and social confidence.

Volunteering has given CM a safe and supportive environment to apply his training, interact with others, and develop the professionalism and resilience needed for long-term employment. Encouraged by his progress, he is now actively seeking paid work in the hospitality sector.

CM’s story highlights how access to recovery-focused support, skill-building opportunities, and meaningful work experience can empower individuals to move forward with hope, confidence, and direction.
